TASL is an amazing organization. But it is the people who dedicate their time and energy that make it great. We at TASL Talks want to highlight our leaders and express our gratitude for their commitment to our wonderful profession. We will be featuring each member of leadership throughout the remainder of the year. I’m excited to share with you more about Area Rep and Past President Blake Hopper.

Name: Blake Hopper
School: TNT Primary School, Forge Ridge School, and Powell Valley Elementary and Middle School
Position Within TASL: Clinch River Region Area Representative, Formerly PD Chair and Past President
How has being a member of TASL impacted your practice as a school librarian?
It has allowed me to make connections with my kind. Sometimes being a librarian can be lonesome. I have made so many connections. I know I can call on anyone for help. TASL has helped me become a stronger more opened minded librarian.
What do you value most about the profession?
The connections with my kiddos! I love see their excitement over the library and getting the books they asked for! Just this week I have seen kiddos walking down the hall and sitting in the bus line reading.
