TASL is an amazing organization (just ask AASL). But it is the people who dedicate their time and energy that make it great. We at TASL Talks want to highlight our leaders and express our gratitude for their commitment to our wonderful profession. We will be featuring each member of leadership throughout the remainder of the year. I’m excited to share with you more about our 2020 Treasurer Dr. Ginny Britt.
Name: Dr. Ginny Britt
School: Media and Materials Coordinator, Robertson County Schools
Position Within TASL: Treasurer
How has being a member of TASL impacted your practice as a school librarian?
The ability to connect with others in my region and across the state has really impacted my work as a school librarian. The job can be isolating as you are typically the only person in your building who does what you do. We need the connection and TASL provides that connection. I also know that the level of professional development and educational opportunities I have had because of TASL have greatly improved how I serve my patrons.
What do you value most about the profession?
The ability to instill a love of reading in the next generation. We have a great opportunity to reach students and find books that allow them to explore the world and to support them in becoming the best people they can be.
What are you currently reading?
Enter Wild by Carlos Whitaker; I Shall Not Want by Julia Spencer-Fleming
Anything else you would like to share?
I hope all school librarians in the state will consider joining TASL as it’s great to be part of a wonderful organization that supports the work we do each day.
