In the wake of civil unrest across the country after the death of George Floyd at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer, TASL President Vicki Winstead released today a statement crafted with the help of the Executive Board and Erika Long, Chair of the AASL Presidential Initiative Task Force on Equity.
Winstead said in an address to TASL membership, “It is time to do more than watch–it is time to take action. It is my hope that this statement will spark change in our organization. We must do better.”
Winstead also says, “TASL will be taking future steps to ensure we make the changes we know we need to make.”
