This spring, over 270 students from across Tennessee submitted an original design for the annual bookmark contest, sponsored by the Tennessee Association of School Librarians. The theme of this year’s contest was “Everyone Belongs at Your School Library.”
Student entries were judged by illustrator Kris Sexton in the categories of creativity, execution of the theme, and use of materials.
Congratulations to the following students for their design being selected as a winner in our 2019 TASL Bookmark Contest!

High School Division

First place winners in their division received a $25 cash award, 50 bookmarks of their design, an enlarged copy, and an award certificate. School librarians received 200 bookmarks of the winning design.
Honorable mention winners in their division received 25 bookmarks of their design, an enlargement of their bookmark, and an award certificate. School librarians received 100 bookmarks of the winning design.
Librarians may pick up copies of the bookmarks at the TASL conference this fall, but for now, if you want to place your own order for additional copies, they may be ordered through Sir Speedy in Nashville. The contact is Brianna and her email is brianna@sirspeedymusiccity.com. You may contact her to check pricing and order more if your school has a budget for that.
Thank you to all the librarians across the state for taking time to promote this contest with your students! The bookmarks have already been shared widely at the TN Legislature, and we can’t wait to provide more bookmarks at the conference in the fall.
