TASL Year in Review

Written by Blake Hopper

TASL friends,

Can you believe that 2018 is coming to a close?  It is hard for me to believe! TASL has had a very busy year.  We started the TASLTalks blog, strengthened our advocacy efforts, met with Commissioner McQueen, worked with gubernatorial candidates, provided a plethora of professional development opportunities with our Summer PDs and AASL standards workshops, had a great 27th annual conference, and began celebrating librarians of the month.  Wow!  Reflecting back on this year makes me even more excited for 2019!

As my term of service as TASL President comes to close and I pass the torch to Jennifer Sharp, I want to thank you for all you have done to support TASL.  Serving each of you as TASL President has been one of the most rewarding opportunities of my career. I have learned so much from each of you. I am so lucky to have met such great lifetime friends.  It has made me love Tennessee even more than I did before.   I am truly in awe of all the great school librarians and libraries we have in our state. Our communities, students, staff, and parents are truly blessed.  Thank you for all you do!

In 2019, I am excited to continue serving TASL as Past President and as AASL Affiliate Chair-Elect.  I am also excited to see what other great things that TASL is going to accomplish.

Looking toward 2019,

Blake Hopper
